Do you know you can transfer some of your main airtime to another MTN number? There are two main ways of airtime transaction in Ghana, these are EVD and Mobile Money Airtime. Most people are familiar with airtime transaction from mobile money account to other MTN users or numbers.

An airtime can also be shared from one’s existing airtime to another MTN user, this service is known on MTN Ghana as Me2U (Me to you) powered by the EVD service.

How to Transfer Airtime From Main Account to Another MTN Number Using Me2U

Transaction from main account requires a self registration known as activation. Since this airtime transaction incur directly from the existing airtime, a pin code need to be set to avoid to avoid unauthorize transfer from your account. Follow the steps to set your pin code and activate your number for airtime transaction.

How to Activate an MTN sim for Airtime transaction (Me2U)

  1. Dial the EVD short code *198# on your phone with MTN Sim inserted.
  2. Choose option “1. Activate” and click send/ok.
  3. You will see “Choose new pin“, enter a four (4) digits number you want to use as a pin code and click send/ok.
  4. Redial the same code to confirm the chosen code.

How to send Airtime to another MTN user using Me2U

There are two ways of sending airtime using Me2U EVD service namely direct transfer and manual transfer.

Manual Transfer using Me2U

  1. Dial *198# and send.
  2. choose option 2. Transfer and send
  3. under enter receiver’s MSISDN, dial the MTN number you want to send the airtime to.
  4. Enter the amount of airtime you want to transfer. eg. 5, 2,1, 10, 50 etc. cannot be below 1cedis eg. 0.50, 0.90 etc.
  5. Enter decimal value. Decimal value must be two digit number eg. 10, 20, 50, 80, 00 etc.
  6. Enter your Pin code set during registration.
  7. Confirm transfer to the number you typed by entering 1 to confirm, 2 to reject.

Direct Transfer using Me2U

Using the format here is the simplest way of transferring airtime to another from MTN to MTN.

Dial *198*Receiver number*Amount*Amount in Pesewas*Pin code# eg. *198*0244500000*10*00*1111# and send. You will then be prompted to confirm by 1 or reject by 2.

Note: A charged amount of Ghs 0.10 will be deducted from your account as a service fee.
