The School of Law of the University of Ghana is the premier center for legal education in Ghana and continues to lead the way in preparing students for the legal profession. It was first established as a department of the Faculty of Social Studies in the 1958/59 academic year, becoming a Faculty in 1960/61 then eventually a full-fledged school in the 2014/15 academic year.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR  POST-FIRST DEGREE LL.B PROGRAMME

Since the year 2000, the law course at the University of Ghana is characterized as a second first degree course. This means that entrants to the Law School must possess a Degree from a “recognized university”. By “recognized university”, we mean a University that is accredited by the appropriate body in the country where the University operates its main business as a University.

POST-FIRST DEGREE LL.B ADMISSIONS 2022/2023

The University of Ghana School of Law invites applications for admission into its Post-First-Degree LL.B. Special Programme for the 2022/2023 academic year. Applicants should note that the Post First Degree LLB Programme is now a special programme taught in the evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each week day.

Duration: Three (3) years

Qualification:

The minimum entry is a Second Class (Lower Division) Degree in any discipline from a recognized University (i.e. Universities recognized and/or accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).

Applicants should not send hard copies of documents to the School. All supporting documents should be scanned and uploaded on the application portal.

Applicants must in addition provide or submit the following required documents before the given application deadline, namely: –

  • One (1) copy of ORIGINAL CERTIFICATE authenticated by institution awarding degree;
  • One (1) copy of ORIGINAL ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT;
  • Three (3) Academic Referee reports;
  • Please provide, in your own handwriting, a candid evaluation of yourself as a person, discussing in order of importance to you, the personal characteristics you feel are your strengths and those you feel are your weaknesses. The written self-evaluation must be signed by you with your usual signature;
  • Application Confirmation Letter

APPLICATION DEADLINE:

The DEADLINE for the submission of applications and supporting documents online is 5:00 p.m. or 17:00GMT on Friday, 29th July, 2022. Owing to high demand, we regret that we are unable to consider incomplete and/or late applications.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION:

Qualified short-listed Applicants will be expected to take a selection examination which will attract a non-refundable examination fee of Five Hundred Ghana Cedis Only (GH¢ 500 .00) for both Ghanaian and International Applicants. Date for Entrance Examination is Saturday, 17 th September, 2022. Applicants who pass the Entrance Examination will go through an admission interview process scheduled for Tuesday, 18 th October to Friday, 21 st October, 2022.

Applicants should kindly take note that, the dates for Entrance Examinations and Interviews are provisional.
