In Africa, the smallest country is Seychelles known officially as republic of Seychelles located in East Africa. Seychelles reside between Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, and the French overseas departments of Mayotte and Réunion to the south. Seychelles has the smallest population of all sovereign African countries, with only ninety-eight thousand (98,000) inhabitants counted (in 2021).
