FIRST AID FOR TREATING SEVERE MALARIA

Here We Are With Some Helpful Ways To Treat Severe Malaria At Home Before Hospital Assist. What You Should Do First To Treat Malaria At Home, Work And Any Other Place.

What is Malaria? Malaria is disease caused by mosquito in which a protozoan plasmodium multiplies in blood. The parasites are spread to human through bites of infected mosquitoes.

Types Of Malaria:

  1. P. vivax.
  2. P. falciparum
  3. P. malariae
  4. P. ovale.

First Aid: Is a basic medical care given to a patient or injured person where the injury is slight or where better care is not available.

FIRST AID FOR TREATING MALARIA (ADULT)

  1. You give the person a rectal Artesunate suppository
  2. Tepid sponging and avoid over-clothing
  3. Give paracetamol
  4. Encourage patient to drink more water to prevent dehydration
  5. Encourage patient to feed well to prevent hypoglycemia (Low blood)
  6. Patient is referred immediately stating what actions have been taken already.

NB: The Tepid sponging is only apply to children.

HOW TO TREATE CHILDREN WHEN BEING AFFECTED WITH MALARIA

  1. Use Antipyretic (Paracetamol) for treating of fever in children
  2. Use Tepid sponging (lukewarm water) for children with high grade fever
  3. Increased in fluid intake
  4. Feed children during illness
  5. Antihistamine (for itching)
  6. Give Artemether lumefantrine to the child
  7. Repeat drug if the child vomits within 30 minutes

Ways To Prevent Malaria:

  1. Sleep under a Treated mosquito net
  2. Treat clothing and gear with permethrin
  3. Use coil and vaporizers
  4. Wear protective clothes
  5. Take Anti-malaria drugs
  6. Apply insect repellent to expose skin
